We all want that contoured, perfectly sharp jawline. Yet, sometimes we are troubled by the double chin. Whether it be excess fat or simple genetics, we might just have the solution for you. KYBELLA is the first and only FDA-approved treatment that contours and improves the appearance of the “double chin” caused by unwanted fat. But, what is it and how does it work?
What is KYBELLA and how does it work?
Developed by Kythera Biopharmaceuticals, KYBELLA was approved by the FDA in 2015 as an alternative to liposuction. The KYBELLA procedure uses a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid to destroy fat cells. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down and absorb dietary fat. When injected into the fat KYBELLA destroys the fat cells, resulting in a reduction in fullness under the chin area. After the KYBELLA treatment, the cells are no longer able to store fat.
Is KYBELLA right for me?
There are many reasons our clients come to us asking about KYBELLA. You might be unhappy or self-conscious about the fat under the chin. You might feel like the area under your chin makes you look older or heavier than you actually are. Or, you simply cannot defeat the fullness under your chin with proper diet and exercise. Whatever the reason, this non-surgical procedure can help you achieve the shape you want.
Will I need to have more than one treatment?
Everyone is different. Depending on the amount of fat under your chin or the general fullness, you may require multiple sessions. However, since the fat cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, once you achieve the desired look, you will not need to have any more procedures. To better determine a course of action, you will want to schedule a complimentary follow-up appointment.
Can KYBELLA be used on other areas of the body?
Currently, KYBELLA is only approved to be used under the chin area. If you are interested in helping shape other areas of the body, you can click here to see the other great opportunities for fat reduction and body contouring offered by ClarityMD.
Are there any side effects?
As with any procedure, everyone reacts differently. The most common side effects occur in the treatment area and include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, and redness. Schedule a complimentary consultation to discuss your concerns.
